The Centre Welcomes New Members

The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is delighted to welcome Dr. Kelly Bronson, Dr. Paul Daly, and Dr. Colleen Flood as Faculty members, Prof. Alexandra Mogyoros as Associate member, and announce the appointment of Dr. Mary Cavanagh on its Management Committee. Several members also had their membership renewed.

Our uOttawa community is expanding in the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Law by welcoming three Faculty members:

  • Dr. Kelly Bronson 
    Dr. Bronson is the Canadian Research Chair in Science and Society and an Assistant Professor in the School of Sociological and Anthropology Studies within the Faculty of Social Sciences. Since her arrival at uOttawa, Dr. Bronson has collaborated with several CLTS Faculty members, notably Dr. Jason Millar and Dr. Florian Martin-Bariteau, notably leading to the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue’s Project on AI for Healthy Humans and Environments.
  • Dr. Paul Daly
    Dr. Daly is the University Research Chair in Administrative Law and Governance, and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section. Dr. Daly researches the role of artificial intelligence in administrative law, and scrutinizes the nature of legal controls on public power exercised by private entities, notably tech giants.
  • Dr. Colleen M. Flood
    Dr. Flood is the University Research Chair in Health Law and Policy, a Full Professor in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section. Director of the University of Ottawa Centre for Health Law, Ethics and Policy, Dr. Flood has been extensively collaborating for many years with CLTS Faculty members, culminating in the organization with Dr. Florian Martin-Bariteau of Machine MD in Spring 2019, and of the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue’s Project on AI for Healthy Humans and Environments.

The Centre is also excited to welcome back as Associate Member one of its former research fellow:

  • Alexandra Mogyoros
    A former student of the Centre, Professor Mogyoros is a newly Acting Assistant Professor within the Faculty of Law at Ryerson University.

The Centre is also renewing its governance and welcomed on its Management Committee a new member:

  • Mary Cavanagh
    A Faculty member since 2017, Dr. Cavanagh is an Associate Professor and the Director of the School of Information Studies, Faculty of Arts.

The Management Committee has also renewed the affiliation of Wolfgang Alschner, Jennifer Chandler, Karen Eltis, Jena McGill, Chidi Oguamanam, Amy Salyzyn and Valerie Steeves as Faculty members, and of Suzanne Bouclin as Associate member. Moreover, Jane Bailey, Jeremy de Beer, Michael Geist, Mistrale Goudreau, Elizabeth Judge, Marina Pavlović and Teresa Scassa have been renewed as members of the Management Committee.

The Director also renewed the appointment of Dr. B. Courtney Doagoo as Special Advisor and AI + Society Fellow, and of Jean-Noé Landry as Law Foundation of Ontario Fellow on Smart Cities for the 2020-2021 Academic Year.
