Humanizing Urbanization: Housing, Livelihoods, and Sustainable Cities in a Changing World"
You are invited to the 6th ICCCASU Conference. Taking place this July in Ottawa, Canada, this hybrid conference offers a global platform to address challenges in housing, economic opportunities, sustainable infrastructure, and governance, with a focus on humanizing urban development.
The International Conference on Canadian, Chinese and African Sustainable Urbanization (ICCCASU) is an international think-tank for promoting sustainable and inclusive urban development in a forum based on the diverse but complementary experiences of Canada, China, and African nations. Moving beyond the conventional practice of North-South or South-South cooperation, occurring every two years and rotating between the three regions, ICCCASU fosters a triangular dialogue that altogether accounts for more than 30 percent of the world’s urban population.

About the Conference
Key Objectives:
1) Knowledge Mobilization & Exchange: Provide a space to share research across different cultural contexts, fostering dialogue between researchers and practitioners to explore urban challenges in Canada, China, and Africa.
2) Capacity Building & Network Development: Support the next generation of urban scholars and strengthen global collaborations through engaging with emerging scholars and connecting them to international research networks.
3) Policy Impact & Practice Implementation: Bridge research with actionable policy recommendations, ensuring practical and culturally relevant urban solutions.
Significance of ICCCASU6:
ICCCASU6 tackles pressing urban issues like inadequate housing (affecting over 1.6 billion globally), urbanization, and climate resilience, focusing on post-pandemic transformations. The conference will converge Canadian innovation, Chinese urban transformation, and African community-based solutions to craft inclusive urban strategies. ICCCASU’s focus on Humanizing Urbanization emphasizes the integration of technological and social advancements to improve the livability and resilience of urban spaces.
Benefits:
ICCCASU6 offers Canada an invaluable opportunity to showcase its leadership in sustainable urban development on the global stage. It provides unique insights for addressing challenges in climate resilience, Indigenous urban planning, and sustainable development. The conference strengthens Canada’s role as a global urban leader, fostering collaboration between Canadian universities and international counterparts.
