The CPDC is staffed with counsellors and upper year students who can offer you advice on how to improve the structure, layout and overall content of your resume and cover letter to better prepare you for your summer, articling or alternative job search.  All students are encouraged to have their resume and cover letter reviewed prior to sending it out to employers.  A solid resume and cover letter are one of the key elements to a successful job search.   To book an appointment with a Resume and Cover Letter Specialist or a Professional Development Counsellor, please use the “Appointments” tab in The Source.

The Source is a tool that you will get to know well during your time in law school, since it consists of our job posting and event registration system. It also houses dozens of helpful resources on a variety of topics, including recruitment cycles, interviews, and career planning. As a first year student, you will be issued a temporary password through your uOttawa e-mail account. A series of workshops and information sessions take place over the course of the academic year.  At these sessions you will acquire knowledge on many topics including: recruitment processes for summer jobs & articling, interview skills, internships & fellowships and many, many more.  In order to register for an event, log on to The Source.

The CPDC also hosts several significant events over the course of the year that give students the opportunity to network with employers with a view to securing both summer jobs and articling positions, including Career Day, Mock Interview Week and On Campus Interviews.
